These "new" green cemeteries are actually reverting back to traditional burial…there is nothing new about it.

It turns out that Florida has it’s own eco-cemetery. Located in the panhandle, Glendale Memorial Nature Preserve seems to focus on a do-it-yourself burial. Complete with an observation tower, the preserve looks to be a peaceful place to get in touch with nature and your thoughts.

It’s only 3 minutes long, so definitely take a look.

A weird coincidence, but I was wishing today that I could start a jeans exchange in Miami – bring a pair, take a pair kind of thing.

Swap-O-Rama (website link) is a large event that is held in New York, and now some other cities, two to four times a year. Each attendee brings a bagful of their unwanted clothing and a $10 donation. Various sewers and designers are available to make alterations or personalize to the clothing. It looks really, really interesting and fun (ok, ok, and it looks like a lot of work to the organizers). Watch the video to get a better feel of it.

Anyone interested in starting this up in Miami? I’d take on the project, but with help!

This year marks the 4th annual "Red Carpet, Green Cars" – where eco-minded celebrities team up with Global Green USA and hybrid cars, to make a statement and a difference.

GreenerMiami applauds everyone arriving to the event in style, and in a green car. The traffic and idling on days like the Oscars is an extra reason to do the right thing.

And as for another Biz Idea for Miami, we’ve got plenty of big Latino and other events happening here – why not offer a way for Miami VIPs to arrive "green"? Or even a "green" taxi company?

You can catch the Oscars Sunday on ABC at 8pm ET, with Red Carpet starting at 5:30pm on E!

And don’t forget what Chili Palmer says in regards to his hybrid, "If you’re important, people will wait".

Related to the Stop Junk Mail post, sometimes store ads are useful, because they tell us about special offers, give us coupons, and can sometime really save us money. But that doesn’t mean that I want my mailbox full of ads every week. Nor does it mean that I want to see those ads on paper. But I would like a way to review weekly specials at my local stores – electronically.

Currently many stores offer a way to view their weekly circular online. Best Buy is getting good, (click on Weekly Ad in the upper-left corner), as I"m sure are other stores. But you have to go into each site and input your zip code. Then you have to take time to scroll through something that looks like it was made for paper and then just plopped up on the internet without thinking about different formatting.

Local e-Ads would be a web service that individuals could subscribe to. The service would put together all of the weekly ads that apply to that zip code – all in one place, in an easy to access manner. Free to the consumer, the companies pay for the service (hopefully!). It can be customizable to see only ads that the consumer wants to see.

You may take these ideas and develop them in complete confidence. If you’d like to team up with me on one of these ideas, that’s great, too. Use them, talk about them, and make them happen – and be sure to let me know how it goes!

Our first Biz Idea is based off of PhillyCarShare’s business model (thanks for the tip, Treehugger). Here’s the idea: rent cars to people not by the day, but by the hour. Have cars located around the city for easy pick up and drop off. Include in the price: insurance, gas, maintenance, and child-seats. Use hybrids/fuel efficient cars and also have trucks available for larger loads.

PhillyCarShare’s Mission:

PhillyCarShare is a Philadelphia-based non-profit organization dedicated to reducing automobile dependency in the Philadelphia region through community-based car sharing – improving neighborhood livability; increasing transit ridership, walking, and biking; improving air quality; promoting economic development; mitigating development; mitigating parking demand; and increasing accessibility while alleviating the burdens of auto ownership.

And their prices? $15/month for an Advantage membership, $5.90/hr plus 9 cents/mile. Customers only pay 2 hours from midnight to 8am.

So, using those numbers, if a car was stationed in Brickell, and rented to go to the nearest Wal-Mart, 2 hours / 24 miles, it would cost just under $14.

Think about it – for people that may live in walking distance to work or use public transportation to get there and only need a car occasionally, or any number of other different scenarios. It could work in Miami!
