Sometimes finding the right diaper for your baby can take some trial and error. Some cloth diapers fit skinny babies better than others. And some have just the right leg openings for those heavy-legged babies. Here in South Florida some of the guess work can be eliminated. As the owner of Baby’s Abode Cloth Diapers, I offer a Cloth Diaper class at the Hollywood Birth Center the second Saturday of each month. I bring several different kinds of cloth diapers for moms to touch and feel. Some are available for trying on for size and fit. Today’s cloth diapers are not difficult to use. We are the proud owners of South Florida’s only cloth diaper service called Brian Lewis’ Diaper Duty. Using a diaper service might be an option for folks that want the benefits of cloth but aren’t able or do not want to wash diapers. People have an assumption that diaper services aren’t much better than disposables. That isn’t true at all. We drive hybrids, have energy efficient machines, and are still cheaper than disposables We are working with child care centers to find a way for them to accept babies in cloth. The law is the same for disposing of feces,only it isn’t enforced. Right now we have two child care centers that either use or service or are working on the plan for it. We are based in Plantation but hopefully will accept more and more customers in Miami-Dade.

has lots of information about selection and care of a bunch of different types of cloth diapers and diaper covers. We used cloth during my maternity leave and still do whenever we are at home; unfortunately, child care centers won’t hear of it!

Some target stores are now selling bumGenius, I found some in Palm /beach Gardens.
I also use cloth w/ gdiapers covers – which can be found at whole foods, baby love & other local stores.

Not to mention that the disposable diapers are expensive: it was a boon to our family budget to finally grow out of the diaper phase … but that savings been more than replaced by a growing foot budget. Life never gets cheaper.
