What a great surprise to find your site! I’ve been looking for a local green site to add to my resources and you have some great information here. Thanks for the info on Energy Star!
I’m glad BestBuy is starting to catch on to the value of energy efficient appliances. I had walked away from several large appliance purchases from BestBuy because they didn’t post energyguide stickers on many of their products. I’m happy to see that changing.
Also a quick comment on plasmas – they’re big energy hogs. All Energy Star does is rate the most efficient appliances within a class of products. If it’s wasteful by nature, they just rate the least wasteful ones. If you’re going to ditch the CRT and go with a flat screen, don’t go bigger than you really have to, and go with an LCD instead of plasma.
A really good guide on the power ratings for TVs is available from C|Net:

I do think that educating people on what Energy Star is and what it can mean for the enviroment is very important.
It would also be nice if a small tax break and store discount accompanied the Energy Star rating. This would encourage more sales of these products.
And don’t forget to use green laundry cleansers in those energy star appliances! You can check my site for recipes.
