Library Introduces Borrow-by-Mail

BorrowmailThe public library sounds like a good idea, but you don’t have time to go? Love to read and buy lots of books, only to finish them and have no use for them? Sounds like the borrow-by-mail program may be just for you!

Why is it important to use programs such as the public library? It comes down to the fact that sharing is better for the environment. Why create more objects than we need, only to have to dispose of them later? By using the library, many people can utilize fewer resources.

Borrowmail2How Borrow-by-Mail works: First of all, you need to be a member of the library, which is free. To request a book, follow these steps:

  1. Search for the book (or other item including DVDs) from the library’s home page.
  2. Once on the book’s detailed page, click Request Item.
  3. If not logged in already, log in with your library card number and PIN.
  4. Select location for delivery: Borrow by Mail.

Each item requested by mail costs $2. You may return the items to any Miami Dade Public Library or by mail, paying the postage yourself. Return labels are provided.

For questions, contact (305) 375-BOOK or your local branch of the library.

  1. I’ve longed used the online system to request books. As they become available, they’re sent to my branch and they call me to pick them up when they get there.
    Love it.
The borrow by mail option sounds great. The price is reasonable, I’m pretty sure it’s just a matter of time before I start using that option, too.
I’m a total library junkie and agree that they’re good for the environment.

I already get all of my movies by mail. Now I can get books too!
I never go to the library because I don’t have the time. Now I have no excuse. :D
