I just published my post on the free public transportation available in Miami Dade on Monday, and I’ve decided that I will take the challenge.
Here’s how it will work:
I will have individual locations pre-printed on strips of paper. These locations will be stores, restaurants, or office buildings in Miami-Dade county.
At 9am on Monday morning (I know I should start earlier like most people, but I think 9am will be fine) I will pick a pick piece of paper at random. I will then need to use my feet, the bus, the train, and the MetroMover to get there. Once there, I will pick another piece of paper and use the same method to arrive to my destination.
I will continue this process all day, until early evening.
How you can help:
I know it’s late notice, but I’d love to receive some suggestions for my destinations. You could send me to La Carreta in Key Biscayne, or the Publix in Hialeah. Please comment below with the name of the store/restaurant or similar location, the part of town, and the address, if known.
Thanks! We’ll see how I move around town with no car – full report will come later!

Oh dear, you are a BRAVE girl. I can’t wait to hear the results of your day.
Well, here is my suggestion to you. Go to the Log Cabin Nursery on 8128 Collins Ave, Miami, 33141 and enjoy a fresh coconut water from the Jamaican dude, buy a little fresh produce from the daily farmer’s market and walk around the garden.

Yum! Sounds good!
I just posted it in the Grapevine, but I am posting it here: Green Streets Cafe (keeping with the “green” theme) on Main Highway and Commodore Plaza in Coconut Grove.
I’d like you to try to hit the airport at some point. Both trying to get in and trying to get out should be interesting. Also maybe universities and hospitals. How long does it take to get to the nearest supermarket and back home?
Thanks everyone! I was just at a BBQ and someone suggested Main Street in Miami Lakes. Plus, someone else also suggested the airport.
Alesh, as for the closest supermarket, that’s tough/easy for me, because the closest would probably be just walking with my pull cart…but I don’t live in suburbia. I like your other ideas & I’ll see how I can incorporate them.
