I’ve actually been impressed with the amount of Miami-Dade County programs that are geared towards the environment. Miami-Dade TV has an amazing number of programs dedicated to the topic, as well. As time goes on, I’ll try to focus on each program individually. Today, it’s showerheads.
Did you know that Miami-Dade County will give you a free low-flow showerhead, if you bring in one of your existing showerheads to trade? The program was launched in August 2005, and on its launch day gave out 400 showerheads.
Replacing your showerhead will make an impact on your water bill, energy bill, and sewer bill. For those of you like me that don’t actually pay for your water/sewer (included in rent/maintenance), you can take comfort in the fact that it is the right thing to do.
From the website:
After the toilet, the shower is the second heaviest water user in the home, using up to 30 percent of total household water.
Some interesting facts about WASD’s Low-Flow showerheads:
- They use only about 2 gallons of water per minute or 2gpm. This represents about a 50% drop in the amount of water used by most people in the shower.
- They are a fashionable white and include built-in massage, on/off valve and a swivel head for user comfort and convenience.
Simply come into any one of our four “Exchange Locations” with your actual showerhead and exchange it for a Low-Flow model absolutely FREE!
